Pexip MMV app replacement with new VMR cloud service and web app

Here's all you need to know regarding the retirement of the current My Meeting Video (MMV) clients and VMR functionality on the Pexip Service, and the transition to our new VMR cloud service and web app.

You'll soon have access to even more features with a modern, more accessible Pexip meeting experience.

What’s happening and when?

A new Pexip web app and VMR cloud service is being rolled out. It will initially operate in parallel with the current MMV service for a transition period, ensuring a smooth migration and uninterrupted service for existing MMV customers, before replacing it entirely when MMV is fully retired on February 28, 2026.

You’ll access your meetings through our new web-based meeting app bringing you the latest Pexip video conferencing app experience – a refreshed look, improved accessibility, and a growing set of capabilities.

This upgrade gives meeting participants access to new features like direct chat, background blur, and noise reduction. Plus, it’s independently verified to comply with Section 508, EN 301 549, and WCAG 2.2 AA – meeting the requirements of the European Accessibility Act (EAA).

You will automatically be opted into the new experience. Both MMV and your new Pexip web app will run in parallel until February 28, giving you plenty of time to test out all the new features.

The MMV mobile apps for Android and iOS will also be replaced with new apps. There will be no replacement for the MMV desktop app.

Please contact your Pexip representative or Pexip Authorized Partner to get early access to the new service.

Why the transition?

We’re committed to providing a seamless, reliable, and intuitive way to join Pexip meetings, regardless of device or environment. Our legacy MMV app is reaching its end of life and the new Pexip web app brings the same modern user experience that our customers already enjoy in self-hosted environments now to the cloud as well.

What does this mean for you and your existing scheduled meetings?

All current personal and team VMRs, SIP addresses, names, and PINs will stay exactly the same.

If you join meetings from a SIP or H.323 video endpoint, the experience will remain the same. This update only applies to users joining via the MMV app or browser.

  • The existing Outlook add-in will automatically continue to work with the new service, so there is no need to do anything with it.
  • Any meetings currently scheduled after February 28 2026 will be automatically redirected to a new meeting URL on the new service.
  • Redirection to the new service will not be in place prior to February 28 if you choose to transition earlier.
  • You will need to manually update any long-term recurring meetings so that they use the new meeting URL format, as the redirection service will not last indefinitely. To avoid duplicated events in the calendar, delete the old invites with MMV links after the new invites are sent.

What new features will I get?

The new cloud service is based on our existing self-hosted (Pexip Infinity) web app experience which is designed to make meetings easier, clearer, and more flexible.

It provides the following additional features when compared to the current MMV client:

  • A modern, accessible user experience: built to meet important standards (WCAG, EU Accessibility Act, Section 508).
  • Change meeting layout on the fly: allows hosts to change the layout while the meeting is in progress.
  • Direct chat: exchange private messages with other app users during the meeting (in addition to group chat you already know well).
  • Background blur & replacement: keep the focus on you and maintain privacy wherever you’re joining from.
  • Far end camera control (FECC): if supported by the device, you can adjust another participant’s camera — a helpful feature in classrooms, courtrooms, and telehealth.
  • Raise hand: let the meeting host know you want to speak without interrupting the current conversation.
  • Meeting manager: allows meeting hosts and moderators to easily see who’s in the room and manage participants and layouts.
  • Media statistics: check your network and media quality directly while connected to the meeting to help diagnose issues.
  • Multiple language support: navigate the app's interface in the language that works best for you.
  • Noise suppression: reduce background noises such as typing or fans for clearer conversations.
  • Share audio in presentations: play videos or system audio from your device so that everyone can hear it.

Some previous MMV features will no longer be available:

  • No registered users, directory service or point-to-point calling between app clients. The new service is solely for meetings in VMRs.
  • Basic VMR administration tasks (these will be provided in the future by Pexip Control Center instead).
