Settings that affect whether you receive calls and whether you need to log in

To receive a call, you need to be logged in to the app and it has to be running. Here we explain about two configuration settings available on the Pexip desktop app that also determine whether you receive a call at a given time: the Keep me logged in checkbox and the Leave the app running in notification area when the window is closed button. Here you'll find out what these settings do in different configurations.

Avoiding missed calls

To receive a call, you need to be logged in to the app and it has to be running.

Desktop app users can reduce the chance of a missed call by selecting Keep me logged in and switching on Leave the app running in notification area when the window is closed together. This means you only have to log back in if you have logged out from the app’s menu; you can close the app window using the button and still receive calls, even if you subsequently restart your machine without reopening the app.

Here's how to set these features:

  1. To change the Keep me logged in setting, log out of the app from the menu in the top-right corner. From the Login screen, select the Keep me logged in checkbox and log back in again. Your new setting is now saved.
  2. To find the Leave the app running in notification area when the window is closed setting: go to and then App settings. If it's off, select it to switch it on. Your new setting is now saved.

Other options

Outlined below are three other configurations of the Keep me logged in checkbox and the Leave the app running in notification area when the window is closed button; note how the close button behaves differently.

  1. With Keep me logged in selected and Leave the app running in notification area when the window is closed switched off, this means:
    1. you only log back in after logging out using from the app’s menu.
    2. you don’t receive calls if you close the window using the button or if you use Quit from the app menu.
  2. With Keep me logged in deselected and Leave the app running in notification area when the window is closed switched on, this means:
    1. you can close the window using the button and reopen it without logging back in again, but if you quit or log out from the app menu or restart your machine you need to log back in again when you next open the app.
    2. you still receive calls after closing the window using the button, but if you use Quit from the app menu you don’t receive calls.
  3. With both settings deselected/switched off this means you have to be logged in and have the app window open to receive a call.
